About Lucy Squires-Wilson
Here is a brief message about Lucy Squires-Wilson, recounting her artistic skills and her inspirations.
“Hello, I’m Lucy!
I am a self taught portrait and figurative artist, living and working in rural Galloway, South West Scotland.
My artistic inspiration comes from hearing stories and memories, especially from childhood. I love the challenge of recreating an image that resembles the feeling, mood and curiosity, to know more.
Memories are an endless source of inspiration and I never tire of creating new work.
My paintings are created using soft pastels. I love their versatility and their high pigment – they have been proven to outlast oil paintings with their vibrancy, standing the test of time.
I use the pastels in stick form for mark making, drawing and blending. I then mix them with alcohol or water, to create light washes or even a thicker paint, depending on ratios.
The ability to use my hands to blend, and by adding materials like sand, for texture, gives me sensory and creative satisfaction
On my website, I want to offer a contemporary art gallery online to share my Original Art Pieces and Art Prints, for Art Lovers and Art Novices alike. You can order custom art commissions by using my contact form too. I will occasionally feature Limited Edition Art Prints Online too, so keep your eyes peeled!
I often partake in local Dumfries and Galloway Artist Exhibitions, which I will share on my blog. So if you live locally, or are visiting the local area, please feel free to visit and support myself and other local artists.
I hope you enjoy looking through my collections and that my work inspires you to think about the story behind them.
All My Best,
Lucy x”
